My parents who live in the area recommended Twisted Root to my boyfriend and I when when we were visiting from Chicago. Being from Chicago with some of the best restaurants in the world we have a very picky pallet. We absolutely LOVED this place. We were looking for a cozy Wisconsin place and this was it to a tee! Along with the great food we had the best waitress, Christina! Try to get her if you go because you will get top-notch service. Not only was she super knowledgeable about food and drinks she had a fun and upbeat personality to go with it. Careful Twisted Root because we were trying to talk her into moving to Chicago and working at one of our million amazing restaurants. Not sure how any of their reviews are under 5 stars but I would give them more if I could.

So, so bad! I'm confident in awarding Twisted, "worst restaurant in the county" and it's not even close! Time after time, it's just terrible all the way around. Cheeseburger soup = ground beef and stock. Every time I choose sweet potato fries, every time they're 1/2 cooked. And they have the nerve to tell people they make their pretzels homemade. Lol. Yes, I trust you can make and condition the dough for that properly but somehow you cannot manage to work your deep fryer or not leave a steak under the heat lamp for 10 minutes so it's leather when we get it. Just awful food. Shame too because the location is lovely!

Nice atmosphere! Sat outside on a quiet Saturday night. Our waiter was very attentive, Alex was very friendly and helpful. Our food was very good; we tried the potato skins and brisket rolls. For entrees we had the crusted chicken, the barbecue ribs and the smothered pork chop; tasty and hot. The banana dessert was delicious. We enjoyed our evening along the river. I had a free beer for checking in on Yelp but according to our waiter he couldn't take care of it because he had already ran the card. Even though he was a young kid, he didn't know what Yelp was. What? After some convincing he got it taken care of by giving us back cash in exchange for the free coupon. The bartender wasn't friendly or helpful at all, don't base your review on her. Give twisted a try if you are in the area!

First time at Twisted Root. Went on a Friday so it was busy about a 30 minute wait nothing to bad. Sat at the bar to start the wait, ordered a Outboard on tap and it was delicious! My gf had a ameretto sweet she said it was good... checked my help and had a free domestic or rail drink so she got another! Got seated in a very homey type of eating section. If it were super and light out the view would have been amazing as its right on a river. Looked at menus beforehand and we ordered right away. Small wait for our food I got the skillet tenderloin and bacon hash.... it was DA BOMB soooo frickin good!! My gf had veggie pasta and she couldn't even finish it, it was so filling. Waitress was very attentive and frequent so that was great. Also got the cheese curds and they were very good and abundant. The pasta was only 10 and the tenderloin was only 14 great prices for awesome food. For dessert I got the molten cake to go and that was another plus! The place I will frequent to alot!

Great few a little stream with a fun environment. Outdoor seating. Our group had fish, burgers, and ribs with only compliments.

I think the owners need to decide if they are going to be a consistently good restaurant or, a mediocre hit or miss restaurant. We have been there numerous times and it has been very hit or miss. Some days it is excellent and some are not so good. With the excellent location they have, they should to be excellent all the time. The quality of the food needs to be checked before it leaves the kitchen. I would rather wait a little longer for an excellent meal than get a mediocre or bad one fast. Their staffing seems to have a high turnover. New faces all the time. Hard to get consistent quality that way. Tips: The Au jus should be in a separate cup instead of all on the plate. Big splash factor when cutting that way. Any meat that has the word "tender" in the name or description, especially should be.

For two of us, our bill was $50 without gratuity. We literally left hungry. We waited over 20 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was clearly dead at 6 PM. Service at the bar was just "meh." We were not approached for a refill on our beers when our glasses were empty. Our food took very long to come out. It had a Cisco food feel. Our shrimp sauce was frozen still. Our waitress seemed very frazzled and said there was a problem in the kitchen. Who knows what happened. Maybe we will give them a second chance in a few months. The restaurant was in a very scenic spot and the inside was very cute. The crappy service is unfortunate. We really wanted to like this place.

Cute place on the Sheboygan River. Was pretty even though it was winter, as it was snowing. Would love to try the outdoor patio in the summer. Had the beer fondue as an appetizer, which was ok. Seemed like nacho cheese with some beer in it. Might be better if they used different cheeses to make it a lighter color so you don't get that impression. The warm breads and chips served with it, including pretzel bread, were awesome. Husband had brisket. Served on great texas toast. Brisket wasn't that tender though, and was large sliced pieces, difficult to eat, with cold BBQ sauce on the side. I had a chicken sandwich which was fantastic. Fries were super hot, which I LOVE, but a tidge too greasy. Waitress did the requisite taking our order, bringing our food, checking back shortly to see if we the food was ok. I was disappointed though she never offered to refill our drinks, even though we were almost out of drinks when she brought our food, and she glanced at our table multiple times after that. That was disappointing. I know I can ask for it, but I think a server should be attentive to your needs. We will try again, though.

Went for lunch at 11:30 a.m. And was greeted as we walked in by the owners wife. Took us to our table without saying a word! Dropped the menus down and turned around! Meal was just ok but way too pricey for a sandwich! $1.00 extra for fries? When we left the owners wife was behind the bar. I thought she would acknowledge us or say thank you? Nope! Won't be going back ever just due to the fact that she was not friendly or thankful for our patronage! :(

To --Jennifer (owner of Twisted Root) -- I noticed you added a comment to my review just 6 months since my review. Since I'm unable to respond to your comment on Yelp, I have to leave another review, in which I hope to clarify my original review. We did comment to our waiter about our meal experience. When we ordered a 2nd round of drinks -- and told our waiter to have the bartender put alcohol in the drinks this time. But, I passed on another $7 wine serving in the "grandma" wine glass. (Hope you've invested in some updated ones.) Also, when I was served the Blue Cheese "Salad Dressing" rather than Blue Cheese for my burger, I said to my waiter, "Don't you have real blue cheese?". To which he replied--"No, this is what we serve for blue cheese. -- "Really"? As far as the other food choices went, we passed around and tasted each others dishes. All of our selections were sadly disappointing for those reasons stated in original review. Our waiter didn't inquire about our satisfaction with our meals, but perhaps he could just see our displeasure. We didn't want to make him feel bad for lousy food, since it's not his fault. Also, he was a bit shy and a young fellow. We did leave him a 20% tip. Poor food should never result in poor tips! There are so many great choices for fine dining the Sheboygan County. My husband and myself, are fortunate and able to dine at some of best, so although you do have a gorgeous view on the Sheboygan River, you simply don't have the dining experience that we are looking for.

If you want a great dining experience I strongly recommend Twisted Root. We've been here many times since they're opening in late 2011. Candidly, the food only gets better each time and the owners keep it fresh with a unique offering of menu items and specials.. We've used Twisted Root for a private catering event as well and everyone was impressed. Anyone we know or recommended the "Twisted" experience to, walks away agreeing that with the great food, great views, atmosphere and staff...it's a delight.

We ate here once and the food was fantastic...they have a "twist" on some classic dishes that I really enjoy. We tried to go back a few weeks ago but they had a 2 hour wait. I found out that this place will actually take reservations, which many restaurants around here don't. I'll prepare ahead next time.

Had a lunch meeting here. Waitress was friendly, helpful, and gave us the time we needed to talk, and review menu, but didn't feel neglected. We both had soup and a sandwich that were very good.

First time was very good. My wife and I had hickory smoked prime rib special and everything from the food to the drinks to the service was great. I saw a number of things on the menu that I want to try so we will defiantly go back. I'll be sure to post an update on how the second experience measures up.

Just had Sunday breakfast here, and I was very impressed! The food was original, I had the pancakes with strawberries and cream cheese, and delicious. The view is also amazing to say the least. I can't wait until they get the outside deck open. Definitely worth checking out!!!

My husband and I have eaten here several times and enjoyed the food but last night was a different story. I ordered the special T-bone steak with mushrooms and whiskey cream sauce - Big disappointment. The steak was so sinewy I could not even cut a piece of the tenderloin to taste and the rest was not much better. It was also the thinnest , most uneven cut I've ever seen at a restaurant. It looked like a steak you might buy off the back of a truck. The whole mushrooms and sauce were fine, though I'd caution the kitchen to hold back on the au jus when serving a cream sauce since this only watered down the dish. Surprisingly, it was served with chips (???) so I upgraded to a baked potato at additional charge. Because of time constraints I didn't send it back . When I mentioned the problem to our waitress she spoke to the manager who offered me a complimentary dessert. We may or may not be back. I will be disappointed to cross this off my go-to list as I've always liked this restaurant through its different incarnations & its location. I sure hope they reconsider their meat purveyor.

I'm glad to see this lovely restaurant reopen. It's a wonderful view. Went here wtih a large group of about 15. The bar staff was gracious and filled our drink orders quickly. There is a nice variety of beers, wines and liquours. About 8 stayed to eat and everyone was satisfied with the meals. My jalapeno popper appetizers were crispy and not soggy. The house salad was nice, nothing memorable. Mushroom ravioli was tasty with cream sauce. I tried the wasabi-ranch sauce and it has a nice kick.

I tried this place after hearing the new owners on the radio, and a guy at work telling me one of them was from Texas and did real Texas BBQ. We went there for lunch. The place is as beautiful as I remember from previous owners, with large windows in the dining area overlooking the Sheboygan River and woods behind. The beef brisket was smoked, and tasty with a house BBQ sauce on it. They have some other Texas favorites too like sweet potato fries and other entrees. Saturday's they have a smoked prime rib that I want to come back and try.

Good food. Prime rib very good. Great rissotto. Real horseradish. Merlot is served too warm though. Very friendly staff and amazingly fast service.

I have visited the Twisted Root a couple of times and each visit has left me satisfied. They offer a wide variety of menu options, all equally delicious. They also offer vegetarian options, which is rare in Sheboygan County. The staff is very accommodating and I have yet to make a visit where the owners were not around making sure that everything is running smoothly. The atmosphere is relaxing and prices are just right. It is truly a great restaurant in Sheboygan Falls where one can enjoy a delicious meal.

This is a great new place on the outskirts of Sheboygan Falls. My colleague and I had lunch there this week and were very impressed with both the service and the food. We had the Cheese Nuggets with Wasabi Ranch Sauce to start. Cheese curds were cooked perfectly and the sauce will keep me coming back. Who'd of ever thought ranch sauce and wasabi, but it is delicious. We had a "your name" burger (basically a hamburger with a list of about 20 ingredients) all of which looked tasty, but I decided on a burger w/cheddar, pepper jack, bacon, lettuce, onion, & tomato. Burger was cooked perfectly medium and the Sheboygan hard roll complimented all of the ingredients on the burger perfectly. My colleague had the blackened catfish sandwich and was very impressed. Catfish was crispy and was served with greens and a special sauce that he raved about. The waitress was very friendly and all in all I was very impressed. We will be going back soon.
